My name is Nancy Costa, I am a textile artist and founder of Galeria ALM, a creative space where thread leads more than forms: it leads senses, stories and affections. I believe in the power of handmade as a language capable of transforming spaces and bodies and, with delicacy, reconnecting us with what is essential. My work unites art, intuition and nature, weaving together light, plants and textures with the soul of someone who believes that home and body are an extension of feeling.
My Story
From a very early age, the sensitive world touched me deeply: the invisible threads between people, objects and places always awakened in me a silent listening. I grew up surrounded by simple yet powerful rituals: hands that heal, eyes that perceive beyond, gestures that care. I carry with me this spiritual and intuitive heritage, which today intertwines with my artistic practice and with each piece that is born in my studio. Before art, I walked other professional paths, but it was in this reconnection with the handmade, with the time of touch and intention, that I found my truth.
Why I Chose Macramé
Macramé chose me before I even realized it. I discovered in this ancestral technique a way to embroider the invisible, to transform feelings into matter, to create with my hands what the soul whispers. Each knot carries a pause, a purpose, a surrender. Macramé taught me to listen to the internal rhythm of things and to value time as an essential ingredient of beauty. It offers me the freedom to create unique and organic pieces that welcome light, plants and space with presence and naturalness.
My Journey
Galeria ALM was born from the desire to unite art, spirituality and design. The name carries the word 'soul' with lightness and truth, because that is what I wish to imprint on each creation, whether in the light that inhabits spaces or in the pieces that accompany the body. Throughout my journey, I deepened my knowledge of themes that expand the perception of space as an extension of feeling, such as biophilic design, which values the presence of nature in everyday life; affective design, which gives importance to the memories and emotions evoked by objects; and the principles of neuroarchitecture and neurolighting, which investigate how light, forms and materials impact our wellbeing.
These studies intertwine with my handcraft practice, guiding the creation of macramé lighting fixtures, plant holders and bags that inhabit both home and body. The pieces not only compose aesthetics, but create welcoming, sensory and intuitive atmospheres, inside and out. Made one by one, with listening, presence and respect for the cycle of creation, they are poetic objects that want more than to decorate or dress: they want to awaken sensations.
My Final Message to You
Here, each piece is an invitation to feel. To feel the time of the handmade, the strength of natural fibers, the delicacy of a space — and a body — that welcomes, rather than merely decorates. My desire is that, as you browse Galeria ALM, you find more than objects: you find meaning. That each artwork brings not only beauty, but presence. That it awakens care for the home, for the body that inhabits the world, for the nature around us and for what pulses within you.
May intuition guide your gaze and may you find something that resonates with your soul. Welcome to this space where art, nature and affection intertwine in knots that illuminate and sustain
